Shabbat Word

Shabbat shalom

Psalm 17:1-16

17:1) A prayer by David.

17:2) Hear, Yahuah, my righteous plea;

Give ear to my prayer, that does not go out of deceitful lips.

17:3) Let my sentence come forth from your presence

Let your eyes look on equity.

17:4) You have proved my heart;

You have visited me in the night;

You have tried me, and found nothing;

I have resolved that my mouth shall not disobey.

17:5) As for the works of men, by the word of your lips I have kept myself from the ways of the violent.

17:6) My steps have held fast to your paths,

My feet have not slipped.

17:7) I have called on you, for you will answer me, `Elohiym:

Turn your ear to me.

Hear my speech.

17:8) Show your marvelous lovingkindness,

You who save those who take refuge by your right hand from their enemies.

17:9) Keep me as the apple of your eye;

Hide me under the shadow of your wings,

17:10) From the wicked who oppress me,

My deadly enemies, who surround me.

17:11) They close up their callous hearts.

With their mouth they speak proudly.

17:12) They have now surrounded us in our steps.

They set their eyes to cast us down to the earth.

17:13) He is like a lion that is greedy of his prey,

As it were a young lion lurking in secret places.

17:14) Arise, Yahuah,

Confront him, cast him down.

Deliver my soul from the wicked by your sword;

17:15) From men by your hand, Yahuah,

From men of the world, whose portion is in this life.

You fill the belly of your cherished ones.

Your sons have plenty,

And they store up wealth for their children.

17:16) As for me, I shall see your face in righteousness;

I shall be satisfied, when I awake, with seeing your form.

A Word

As Easy As 1-2-3

During a technical conference in my last employment, there was a teaching session regarding the ‘Fire Triangle’. It was said that, in order for a fire to break out, there must be three constituents present: fuel (gasoline, wood, butane), oxygen and a source of heat (flame, spark or high temperatures). Remove any one and fire cannot take place. Having sailed on gas tankers, I explained that oxygen does not have to be present. Everyone in the room tried to argue against this, but after explaining the chemical process behind the fire and that chlorine or fluorine may support combustion, they all kept quiet.

Salvation may be considered as a form of triangle, similar to the fire triangle. In the salvation triangle the three constituents are:

“For Yahuah so loved the world, that He gave His one and only Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish, but have eternal life.” (John 3:16). “We love Him because He first loved us.” (1 John 4:19). The first constituent is the love of Yahuah for Mankind. He is the instigator of salvation. From the very foundation of all Creation, Yahuah `Elohiym knew that all Mankind would sin, and that would cause an eternal rift between Him and Mankind. This separation could not be removed by anything Man could do, therefore He had to provide a way back for Man. This is through His Son, Messiah Yeshua. This is a once for all sacrifice; once carried out is totally sufficient for all Mankind for all time, no matter how heinous or how frequent the sin. Yahuah has given His Son and cannot withdraw the accepted sacrifice of His Son. Nevertheless, the offer has a time limit for each and every individual. This is either up to the person’s final breath or to the time when Messiah returns for His people.

“So faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of Yahuah.” (Rom. 10:17). “delivering you from the people, and from the Gentiles, to whom I send you, to open their eyes, that they may turn from darkness to light and from the power of haSatan to Yahuah, that they may receive remission of sins and an inheritance among those who are sanctified by faith in me.” (Acts 26:17, 18). The second constituent is the requirement for a person to have someone preach the Good News of salvation and someone to pray for them. When my wife and I lived in Canada, we started going to large Pentacostal Church, Christian Life Assembly. After a few weeks, we started going to New Life classes. The leader of this seven week course was a lady named Gwen Schmunk. I have no doubt that along with her explaining the Good News in seven simple lessons, she was praying for us and the others in her class. In these classes we were convicted of our sin, our utter desolation and need of a Saviour. This Saviour was Messiah Yeshua and that we accepted the offer of salvation through Him. My wife and I are first generation Believers, so that it could not have been any family or friends.

Even if you have Believing friends or family, we at FGA would be privileged to pray for you. Please contact us at ezra710@firstgenerationassembly.com.

“Repent therefore, and turn again, that your sins may be blotted out, so that there may come times of refreshing from the presence of Yahuah.” (Acts 3:19). “and said, ‘Most assuredly I tell you, unless you turn and become as little children, you will in no way enter the Kingdom of Heaven.’” (Matt. 18:3). The third constituent is that a person must acknowledge their sin, its eternal consequences and the absolute helplessness to do anything about it. That is why the Saviour, Messiah Yeshua, suffered and died for you. Once this has happened then ask Yahuah for forgiveness through His Son. If you are truly sorry, Father Yahuah is faithful to forgive.

Out of the three constituents, this third part is the most difficult. Yahuah has done everything possible, through His Son, for your salvation. There is always someone, somewhere ready to preach and pray for you. The difficulty arises on your part. Are you ready to acknowledge your sins and your need of a Saviour? Are you ready to ask Yahuah to forgive you? Are you ready to know the peace of eternal salvation?

Then what are you waiting for? Your time is rapidly running out.

Act now!

If you want to accept Father’s offer of salvation through Messiah Yeshua, you need to ask Him in prayer along these lines. Use your own words but they must be genuine as Father knows our very hearts and nothing is hidden from Him.

Father, I am a sinner who needs forgiveness through your Son, Messiah Yeshua. Please forgive me of all my past sins as I accept that, Messiah Yeshua my Saviour, has taken upon Himself my punishment. By your Spirit, help me to live a life worthy of His sacrifice. Thank you, Father, for making this way back to you.”

Ameyn

Halleluyah!

Father, we thank you for the power of your Word and that Word was made flesh in Messiah Yeshua so that in believing in His Life, Death and Resurrection we may have eternal life with you.

Remember, the Judge looks into your heart, mind and future.

In other words, when you say a Believer’s prayer you had better mean it.

If you have honestly said such a prayer as this, and truly renounced the sin in your life and accepted Father’s salvation through Messiah Yeshua, then please drop us an e-mail at FGA to let us know. This not only builds up our faith, it offers an opportunity to prayfully support you. Even if you have Believing friends or family, we at FGA would be privileged to pray for you. Please contact us at ezra710@firstgenerationassembly.com. Having believed and prayed, now please find a local faith-based church to attend. Drop FGA an e-mail so that we can rejoice with you and pray and support you over the coming weeks.

If you have sincerely called out to Father for forgiveness, then eternal life is assured. No more question marks on your eternal life, only a full stop. Salvation does not take away the day-to-day questions of life, nor is it a short-cut away from trials or tribulations. Nevertheless, knowing your eternal life is secure, any temporary trial can be overcome by looking at the completed work of Messiah Yeshua.

All blessings to you.

“I love those who love me.

Those who seek me diligently will find me.” (Prov. 8:17).

Breaking Matzah

Our Saviour welcomes all His Family to join in this memorial. If you have accepted Messiah Yeshua as your Master and Saviour please take the next few moments to seek Father and to ensure that all is right between Him and you and between you and your Brothers and Sisters. If not, please put this right before continuing.

If you have not yet accepted Him into your life, then we encourage you to seek Him while it is still possible, as time is running out. When He returns or if you pass away then it will be too late. Please do not partake of the matzah and wine as in doing so, it gives thanks for the broken body (matzah) and shed blood (wine) for and a witness of salvation.

On the night of the Master’s betrayal, He took the matzah, blessed it and broke it saying ‘This is my Body broken for you; take and eat it as a memorial to Me.’

Bless the matzah saying: Blessed are you, O Yahuah our `Elohiym, King of the Universe, who brings forth matzah from the earth.

Break and eat the matzah (sharing it if within a group setting):

After the meal He took the Cup, blessed it saying ‘This is my Blood poured out for you for the remission of sins; take and drink it as a memorial to me.’

Bless the wine saying: Blessed are you, O Yahuah our `Elohiym, King of the Universe, who creates the fruit of the vine.

Drink the wine (sharing it if within a group setting):

Thanksgiving prayer: Blessed are you, O Yahuah our `Elohiym, King of the universe, who gives us, in Yeshua, all that we will ever need. In your lovingkindness and mercy, you rebuild broken lives. You bless us, in Yeshua, with a perfect blessing. Ameyn.
