Counting of the Omer ai??i?? Day 8

Psalm 15:1-5

15:1) A Psalm by David. Yahua, who shall dwell in your sanctuary?

Who shall live on your set apart Hill?

15:2) He who walks blamelessly does what is right,

And speaks truth in his heart;

15:3) He who does not slander with his tongue,

Nor does evil to his friend,

Nor casts slurs against his fellow man;

15:4) In whose eyes a vile man is despised,

But honours those who fear Yahua;

He who keeps an oath even when it hurts and does not change his word;

15:5) He who does not lend out his money for usury,

Nor takes a bribe against the innocent.

He who does these things shall never be shaken.

The Word

Do not hold as gold all that shines as gold.

A few days ago, I had a grapefruit after porridge for my breakfast. As usual, I held the two ai???polesai??i?? between my fingers and cut through the ai???equatorai??i??. This ensures that the grapefruit flesh can easily be cut out and eaten. After the two halves opened out, I prepared to dig out any pips. To my surprise, there was not one in the whole fruit. The yellow skin looked the same as usual; the pinky flesh tasted the same as usual but where had all the pips gone to? After a little thought, it was obvious that the grapefruit had been genetically modified so as not to have any pips.

ai???Yahua `Elohiym said, ai???Let the earth put forth grass, herbs yielding seed, and fruit trees after their kind with its seed in it on the earth.ai??i?? And it was so. The earth brought forth grass, herbs yielding their seed after their kind, and fruit trees bearing fruit with its seed in it after their kind; and Yahua `Elohiym saw that it was good.ai??? (Gen. 1: 11, 12). Am I being too picky? After all, it was only a grapefruit. My wife, who does all the shopping, also suggested seedless grapes. It seems that the list is virtually endless where Man has tinckered with Creation. The fruit looks exactly as Father had intended. Nevertheless, the fruit is incapable of producing ai???trees after their kindai??i??. It is sterile; not clean sterile but non-productive. Yahua has revealed to Man knowledge giving rise to great advances in genetic engineering. You only have to look at the new drought-resistant or the herbicide-resistant crops. However, even these can cause new problems. In the UK, herbicide-resistant rape seed plants can be seen flourishing in the paths and by-ways. By definition, these weeds are difficult to eradicate because of the resistance to the herbicides in common use.

ai???Even so, every good tree produces good fruit; but the corrupt tree produces evil fruit.ai??? (John 7:17). The cycle of events that Yahua has commanded is: Tree produces fruit (seed); fruit produces tree. ai???But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, shalom, patience, goodness, gentleness and self-control.ai??? (Gal. 5:22, 23). Beloved, how is your ai???treeai??i??? Is it displaying good fruit? With the Spirit the fruit is clearly manifested and those with the Spirit in them will likewise produce good fruit. This fruit will not be sterile but will bring forth new trees in due season.

ai???By their fruits you will know them. Do you gather grapes from thorns or figs from thistles? What Believers must be aware of is those amongst the assemblies that look like good fruit, but where is the evidence? False teachers, preachers and pastors teach what people want to hear and this finds acceptance in the assemblies. ai???For the time will come when they will not listen to the sound doctrine, but, having itching ears, will heap up for themselves teachers after their own lusts.ai??? (2 Tim. 4:3). This fruit is corrupt and can only produce corrupt fruit. ai???Even now the axe lies at the root of the trees. Therefore, every tree that does not bring forth good fruit is cut down and cast into the fire.ai??? (Matt. 3:10). Inside my grapefruit there was no new life. The flames are the only place suitable for the corrupt fruit and trees.

ai???I AM the Vine. You are the branches. He who remains in me, and I in him, the same bears much fruit, for apart from me you can do nothing.ai??? (John 15:5). Beloved, do not let your fruit be sterile but let Messiah reign in your lives and produce abundant fruit worthy of the Vine.

ai???For there will arise false messiahs and false prophets, and will show signs and wonders, that they may lead astray, if possible, even the elect.ai??? (Mark 13:22). The fruit of these people is attractive but, like fools gold, promise but cannot deliver. The messages will appear to be golden nuggets but their value is less than base metal.

I was thinking over this message the other day when I was pruning some hydrangea bushes. The old flowers were still intact but when I cut them, there was no substance in them and they crumbled as dust. ai???For all flesh is like grass, and Manai??i??s glory like the flower of the grass. The grass withers and its flower falls.ai??? (1 Peter 1:24). Hydrangeas have a relatively long flowering period. Nevertheless, even this is but a short season. Once the flower has served its purpose, the plant absorbs the substance or goodness back into itself leaving a dry shadow of its former glory. It is a pity because the flowers, when in bloom, were a vibrant blue and full of stiffness. No insects would be attracted to the flowers lacking pollen.

After the winter they were dried up and a dull dirty grey, good only for the rubbish bin or fire. Certainly not the beautiful life-sustaining flower Father created.

So it is with Man. Even the man with a long and successful life having wealth and fame has but a short season before the dust reclaims him (Gen. 3:19). The wealth vanishes and even when the fame lingers on it is but a poor shadow, confined to the history books.

ai???Yahua `Elohiym created Man in His own image. In Yahua `Elohiymai??i??s image He created them; male and female He created them.ai??? (Gen. 1:27). Man, too, was made to be beautiful and full of life. However, the effects of sin have absorbed all the substance, goodness out of Man. He is but a poor shadow of the creature Father intended him to be. Dull and dried up, void of Fatherai??i??s Spirit and not capable of sustaining everlasting life. ai???If a man does not remain in me, he is thrown out as a branch and is withered; and they gather them, throw them into the fire and they are burned.ai??? (John 15:6).Ai?? Good, too, only to be confined to Hell and everlasting fire. Certainly not the beautiful life-filled person Father intended them to be.

ai???He showed me Yehoshua, the High Priest, standing before the angel of Yahua, and haSatan standing at his right hand to be his adversary. Yahua said to haSatan, ai???Yahua rebuke you, haSatan! Yes, Yahua who has chosen Yerushalayim rebuke you! Is this not a burning stick plucked out of the fire?ai??i?? Now Yehoshua was clothed with filthy garments and was standing before the angel. He answered and spoke to those who stood before Him saying, ai???Take the filthy garments off of him.ai??? To him He said, ai???Behold, I have caused your iniquity to pass from you, and I will clothe you with rich clothing.ai??i??ai??? (Zec. 3:1-4). Although the Yehoshua was the High Priest, in the eyes of Father, he was simply a sinner in need of salvation; like every man, woman or child that has ever or will be born.

In this passage, there are two consequences of salvation. One is that a person is plucked from the fire. Destined for eternal flames, the person is rescued, snatched back at the last moment. The second consequence is that Father gives him a renewed life representing the stripping off of sin of the dirty raiment and donning a new spotless garment.

Dear ai???flowerai??i?? what will be your final destination and status? Dried up, dull and destined for the flames? Or vibrant, beautiful and a life-sustaining bloom? Yahua `Elohiym who created you can recreate life back into a dead flower and new life into the repentant sinner. This was the reason that Messiah Yahushua had to come to Man, live as one of us, crucified and resurrected.

You must look at your life, understand that all is as filthy clothes but all are incapable of doing anything about it. The Spirit is the only One who can make a make the change in our lives. It is He that reveals the sin in our lives and guides us to the Saviour. It is our belief in the full work of Messiah Yahushua that gives us renewed life in Him if only we can truly go to Father, confess our sins and seek His forgiveness through Messiah Yahushua.

Let Him who is able and willing, breathe new life into the dead bloom.

If you want to accept Fatherai??i??s offer of salvation through Messiah Yahshua, you need to ask Him in prayer along these lines. Use your own words but they must be genuine as Father knows our very hearts and nothing is hidden from Him.

ai???Father, I am a sinner who needs forgiveness through your Son, Messiah Yahshua. Please forgive me of all my past sins as I accept that, Messiah Yahshua my Saviour, has taken upon Himself my punishment. By your Spirit, help me to live a life worthy of His sacrifice. Thank you, Father, for making this way back to you.ai???Ai??Ai??Ai??Ai??Ai??Ai??
