Introduction

There is much on-going debate as to the exact pronunciation of the name of the Most High, YHWH.  Through many studies over the years, I have come to the decision the name of the Father is Yahuah (Ya-hoo-ah) and that of the Son is Yahshuah (Yah-shoo-ar). From this, it can easily be seen that when the name of the Son (Yahshuah) is mentioned, it contains the name of the Father (Yahuah).

Primacy is given to the revealed covenant Name of יְהֹוָה (YHWH) as Yahuah and the Word hence Yahuah and all Scripture references are highlighted in bold font.

“And Yahuah said to Moshe, ‘I AM WHO I AM’… This is My name forever, and this is My memorial to all generations.’” (Exod. 3:14a, 15b). In this passage, Yahuah covenantal Name is revealed to mankind through Moshe at the burning bush as `Ahyeh `Asher `Aheyh (the closest translation being I Will Be As I Will Be). This is abbreviated to Yahuah (Yod – Heh – Waw – Heh when reading left to right) where in Hebrew the letter Yod is equally transliterated J or Y and Vav as V or W. However, the letters J and vav and their accompanying sounds are relatively modern (J around the turn of the 16th. to 17th. Centuries and Ashkenazi for vav). Therefore, these letters were not available to the original writers and should not be used for transliteration purposes.  Due to the lack of vowels in Hebrew this has commonly been translated as Yahua, Yahweh or YaHuWaH (in Hebrew/Aramaic) or Jehovah (in Western languages) these are only best guesses. In order to ensure that the Name of Yahuah is not taken in vain, Yisra`elites usually use ADONAI (Our Great Lord – when dealing with the Jewish people) or HaShem (The Name – when dealing with the Nations i.e. those outside of the Commonwealth of Yisra`el). Moshe was not just seeking how to address Yahuah by revealing His Name, but wanted a revelation of the divine Nature i.e. a covenant-making, covenant-keeping, unchanging, eternal Yahuah.

“Now I saw heaven opened, and behold, a white horse. And He who sat on him was called Faithful and True, and in righteousness He judges and makes war. His eyes were like a flame of fire, and on His head were many crowns. He had a name written that no one knew except Himself. He was clothed with a robe dipped in blood, and His name is called The Word of Yahuah. And He has on His robe and on His thigh a name written: KING OF KINGS AND MASTER OF MASTERS.” (Rev. 19:11-13, 16). The Rider is described as Faithful and True and making righteous judgements (v11), named as The Word of Yahuah (v13) and King of Kings and Master of Masters (v16). These are all fulfilled in the Messiah. However, in v12 we are told that He had a Name that no person knew. It is my belief that at the culmination of History, `Elohim will reveal the new Name of v12 by which He will be known as throughout eternity.

Yahuah is used in the notes as the name of the Deity as it was revealed to Moshe (Moses). There are many so called ‘gods’ but only one Yahuah.  This is the only name used in the Bible by which the Eternal Self-existing One has commanded us to call Him. However, there are various pronunciations but no clear definitive conclusion. Therefore Yahuah is used throughout.  All other references (El, `Elohiym, El Shaddai, LORD etc.) are all titles and refer to what Yahuah is capable of doing or of His character. However, these are not set apart on to Him alone but can be used of people and false deities. Therefore, I believe that it is of vital importance to proclaim His Name as He commands (Deut. 28:58-62).

The references to ‘Jesus, Christ, God, Lord, LORD Yeshua or Y`shua’ and that of the Books of the Bible in the quoted Bible verses have been retained but readers must be aware that these are words derived from tradition and not Scripture and only used due to copyright. However, when not used to reference a Bible verse, all proper names have been amended to their original (non-anglicized) names. It is belief that the true Name of the Almighty, Yahuah and of His Son Yahshuah will be returned to their rightful glory (Psa. 22:22; Prov. 30:4; Heb. 2:12).

It is the belief of FGA that the name of the Master Yahshuah is that of Yahuah (יְ הֹ וָ ה YHWH) has the letter שׁ shin inserted. This letter is that by which Yahuah is usually symbolized and the letter is like a crown, symbolic of the King Messiah. Therefore, Yahuah becomes Yahshuah (יְ הֹ שׁ וָ ה ). In that day you will know that I am in my Father…” (John 14:20a).

The word god is used to denote all the false deities. The use of names and titles of false deities, demons, powers, principalities and angels are not used in any way or form to praise or exalt them. All created beings should be referred to by impersonal pronouns (it, them). Only Yahuah `Elohiym (Father, Son and HaRuach) and Man (formed) are not created and should be referred to as He, he, she etc.

All Scripture verses are full or paraphrased (usually from the Hebrew Names Version). # refers to the Strong’s Number G(reek) or H(ebrew) and * to TWOT. For example Righteousness’#H6663 צָדַק tsa-deck *1879 sadeq where the word tsa-dech/sadeq is the transliteration or English approximation to the sounding of the Hebrew, Aramaic or Greek word. In using the phonetic spelling of words, the stress is laid on that syllable which is underlined.

All Scripture references have been kept to the anglicized for simplicity or where they have been taken from a direct quote.

However, I must stress that:

the pronunciation of Yahuah is a blessings and curses issue and not one of salvation

All statements are my own beliefs arrived at by 30 years of studying the Word of Yahuah and commentaries of both the Bible and social conditions before and after the Master’s time on this earth, observations and the leading of the Set Apart Spirit (Ruach HaQodesh or HaRuach). The leading of HaRuach is infallible; my following is not. In all things, I give over to the leading of the Set Apart Spirit, our only perfect Teacher, and ask that you do not take anything I write (nor that of any man) without weighing carefully and with prayer against your own reading of the Word of Yahuah and leading of His Spirit. These beliefs are opinions and are meant to assist and not to command; they are not to act as doctrine. They are not exhaustive and are meant as a starting point for discussion/study.

It is intended that this study to be read alongside a Bible. In my opinion, there is no ‘best’ translation but this study utilises a literal translation version (Hebrew Names Version). Access to an Interlinear Bible or internet website (such as https;//www.biblehub.com) utilizing Part of Speech, Voice, Case, Number, Person Tense, Mood, Gender and Comparison would be of great benefit. Please note that there may be some slight differences in the verse notation due to the differing translations. All the Bible quotations are from www.blueletterbible.org unless otherwise stated. I recommend that no Bible verse to be taken in isolation but that in looking up the verses quoted below, its context is examined.

When considering Scripture, the emphasis must be upon what the original writers and audience would have understood by the message. It is true that under the inspiration and guidance of Ruach HaQodesh, Yahuah’s word is for all peoples, for all times. Nevertheless, it was written primarily by Jewish writers for Jewish people. There is a danger, when looking at Scripture, to spiritualize, allegorize or symbolize and to minimize the actual factual account of events.

In order to do this, I would suggest that it is necessary to approach the study of Scripture, in a particular manner. In starting any study, I urge all students, both new and mature, to ask this question first before all others: ‘What can I smell?’

This may seem a slightly odd question, but it gets right down to the heart of the matter. By asking what can one smell (or feel, or taste, or hear, or see), immerses the student in the scene under consideration. It then follows naturally to start thinking as how the original audience would have received the information.
